EU helps 2,800 People in BiH to receive durable housing Solutions

As part of the support to communities hit by 2014 floods, beneficiary selection for economic empowerment of Flood Recovery – Housing Interventions Programme was finalized. 205 households from 35 municipalities and cities in BiH will receive support in the areas of agriculture production, employment and self-employment.

Through this Programme, financed by the European Union, 2,800 people will receive durable housing solutions, while socially and economically vulnerable families will have an opportunity to secure stable and sustainable sources of income, in accordance with their capacities and needs.

Selection of beneficiaries of the Programme was done though Public Call that was opened from October 9th to November 9th, 2017. After the final list of beneficiaries for housing component of the Programme was published, livelihood needs assessment was conducted to select families that fulfill the requirements for economic empowerment. Lists of beneficiaries can be found at UNDP BiH website as well as on info boards of cities and municipalities participating in the Programme.

Flood Recovery Programme – Housing Interventions provides support to self-sustainable recovery through provision of housing units and economic empowerment of socially vulnerable population whose homes were damaged or destroyed in 2014 floods and landslides.

The programme, valued at EUR 15 million, is financed by the European Union in the amount of EUR 12.5 million, in cooperation with Government of Federation of BiH, Government of Republika Srpska, local authorities of partner cities and municipalities, and UNDP in BiH.

The programme is implemented by UNDP in BiH, together with the International Organisation for Migrations (IOM), Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), Hilfswerk International Austria (HWA) and partner municipalities and cities.
