EU in BiH launches social media Campaign to encourage Citizens to fulfil their democratic Rights

In the run-up to the local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina is launching the “Sve počinje izborom” (“Everything Starts with a Choice”) social media campaign today.

The focus of the campaign is to promote fair and credible elections, with a special emphasis on voter turnout, preventing election fraud, and increasing the political participation of women.  Through these key themes, the EU aims to inspire citizens to fulfil their democratic rights, participate actively in the electoral process, and protect the integrity of the elections. The campaign will run throughout September on the EU in BiH social media channels.

“Credible and fair elections, in which the majority of citizens participate, are crucial to strengthening democracy, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring respect for fundamental human rights – all of which are core EU values. This campaign reaffirms the EU’s commitment to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina on this path. We encourage all citizens, and in particular the young people, to be the drivers of the change, because everything starts with your choice,” said Ambassador Luigi Soreca, Head of Delegation of EU to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH.

The current social media campaign builds on the successful “Sve počinje izborom” campaign conducted before the 2022 General Elections, and will continue to encourage citizens to actively participate in shaping their own futures by exercising their right to vote.
