EU Greenlights Export of Poultry meat from Bosnia and Herzegovina

On 25 February 2019, the EU gave Bosnia and Herzegovina the green light for the export of poultry meat to the EU, when an amendment to the relevant EU legislation entered into force.

It is expected that the same legal procedure for authorizing the export of poultry meat products from BiH to the EU will soon be completed by the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed, composed of representatives of all EU Member States. It has been initiated on the Committee’s sessions on 25-26 February 2019. These commodities are regulated by a different legal act than the poultry meat and therefore, require a separate authorizing procedure.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts to increase its production of agricultural products and to enhance its export potential will lead to higher competitiveness and have a positive impact on the economy and quality of life of all its citizens. It is therefore expected that the country will continue pursuing its export opportunities and further work on complying its controls systems with EU requirements in cases of other commodities with potential for export from BiH to the EU market.
