New EU project “Strengthening the public procurement system in B&H” will be presented today at the premises of EU Delegation in Sarajevo.
EU funded this project from the IPA 2009 funds in the amount of 1,371.760 euro.
The project aims to contribute to the improvement of the legal framework of public procurement and to increase its efficiency and transparency in B&H. These activities will further improve the management of public finances in line with European rules and ultimately to further increase public confidence.
The project will provide support to the implementation of the new Law on Public Procurement, which was adopted at the end of April 2014. The new law provides simplification, transparency and clear rules and regulations. It also introduces the most modern tools of public procurement in accordance with EU directives and lays the ground for future e-system of public procurement. The two main beneficiaries of the project are the Public Procurement Agency and Office of Review Body.
Around 1.500 individuals involved in public procurement of public institutions, as well as in the private sector, media, NGO and the judiciary will undergo the training on the application of public procurement procedures, announced the EU Delegation.
