Deputy Commander EUFOR, Brigadier General Legoza, welcomed a delegation from the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), led by Deputy Executive Director Mr. Lars Gerdes, to Camp Butmir for discussions on strengthening cooperation in support of safety, security and stability across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting built upon the Joint Declaration of Intent signed by EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda and FRONTEX Executive Director Mr. Hans Leijtens in Sarajevo on 2 June 2026, reaffirming the shared commitment of both organisations to enhancing cooperation within their respective mandates.

During the meeting, Brigadier General Legoza and Mr. Gerdes discussed areas of mutual interest and explored opportunities to further develop practical cooperation. Their discussions focused on strengthening coordination and information exchange in support of a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speaking following the meeting, Brigadier General Legoza said:

“Our continued cooperation with FRONTEX reflects our shared commitment to supporting safety, security and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through close coordination and the exchange of expertise, we strengthen our collective ability to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all citizens.”

The visit highlighted the strong partnership between EUFOR and FRONTEX, reflecting their shared commitment to supporting stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina through close cooperation with national authorities and international partners.
