The EU Special Representative and the Head of the EU Delegation Lars-Gunnar Wigemark and the US Ambassador Maureen Cormack met yesterday with BiH Presidency Chair Dragan Covic. They discussed a number of issues concerning reforms, regaining momentum on the EU path, and improving the rule of law.

On the 2018 General Elections, they emphasised the responsibility of all BiH politicians to ensure elections take place smoothly and institutions are formed in a timely manner. Presidency Chairman Covic committed to discussing potential amendments to the Election Law in a spirit of dialogue and consensus.

EUSR/HoD Wigemark and Ambassador Cormack underscored that any proposal must respect court decisions and the rule of law and move the country closer to EU standards. The European Union and the United States support constructive efforts to address differences and make progress on the EU path.
