A handover ceremony of an European Union donation of 63 vehicles and specialized equipment for the Border Police and the BiH Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) will be held in Sarajevo tomorrow.

The keys of 35 vans and 12 SUVs worth more than three million BAM will be handed over to the BiH Border Police. In addition, additional equipment will be delivered for the smooth performance of tasks, in accordance with the identified needs of officials.

“This donation will significantly improve the work of police officers and enable them to act faster and work more mobile in the field,” the International Organization for Migration said.

The EU has provided SIPA with 16 off-road vehicles and specialized uniforms for officials, with a total value of more than 460,000 BAM.

Funds for the project “EU Support to Migration and Border Management in BiH” were provided through a special measure of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance.

The project is implemented by IOM in partnership with UNHCR, UNICEF, UNFPA and the Danish Refugee Council. After the ceremony, the Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers Selmo Cikotic, the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Johan Satler, the Subregional Coordinator for the Western Balkans and the Head of the IOM Mission to BiH Laura Lungaroti, the Director of the BiH Border Police Zoran Galic and the Deputy Director Sipe Djuro Knezevic will address the media.
