The Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a statement regarding the announced celebration of the unconstitutional RS Day, recalling the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on this issue.
“The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has determined that the legislation of the Republika Srpska on the Day of the Republika Srpska is not in accordance with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the EU Delegation said.
They particularly emphasized the “obligation to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order, including the decisions of the Constitutional Court, as well as the international subjectivity” of our country.
“The EU calls on the political leadership of the Republika Srpska entity to refrain from provocative rhetoric and actions aimed at division, including questioning the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country,” the statement reads.
They also called on all political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to “act decisively to implement the necessary reforms for progress on the European path towards opening accession negotiations with the EU.”
“We reiterate our full commitment to the perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s accession to the EU as a single, integral and sovereign country,” the EU Delegation to BiH said in a statement.
