EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda met with the Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs (SFA), Mr. Žarko Laketa, during an office call in Sarajevo.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region, as well as topics of mutual interest related to migration trends and migration management within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the discussion, Mr. Laketa outlined the role and responsibilities of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs and provided an overview of the work carried out by the SFA’s Immigration Centre in supporting the management of migration and addressing related challenges.

Major General Fronda and Mr. Laketa also exchanged views on the importance of cooperation, information sharing, and coordination among relevant institutions in maintaining situational awareness and supporting stability throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speaking following the meeting, Major General Fronda highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation between institutions responsible for addressing complex and evolving challenges.

“Effective cooperation and the exchange of information remain essential in developing a comprehensive understanding of the operational environment. Meetings such as this provide an important opportunity to strengthen professional relationships, share perspectives, and support coordinated approaches to issues which affect the wider security landscape,” said Major General Fronda.

EUFOR remains committed to working closely with the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and relevant partners in support of a safe and secure environment for all citizens, in accordance with its mandate under Operation Althea.
