EUFOR Commander Major General Fronda met today with the Belgian Foreign Minister, Minister Maxime Prévot, in Camp Butmir. The meeting provided an opportunity to outline how both EUFOR and the Belgian Embassy can best support Bosnia and Herzegovina and to discuss ongoing cooperation within Operation Althea.
Minister Maxime Prévot and Major General Fronda exchanged views on the current security environment and the importance of continued international engagement in support of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institutions. Major General Fronda expressed appreciation for Belgium’s valuable contributions to EUFOR, highlighting the professionalism and dedication of Belgian personnel serving in the mission.
Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining strong partnerships with EU Member States and diplomatic representatives in the country. They also discussed EUFOR’s ongoing efforts to support a safe and secure environment, including joint-training activities with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EUFOR remains committed to close cooperation with all contributing nations and diplomatic partners as it continues to fulfil its mandate under Operation Althea, with Major General Fronda outlining his intention for EUFOR to be a visible, credible and impartial presence with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
