EUFOR commander Major General Maurizio Fronda has been welcomed to Tuzla by Brigadier General Fahir Žilić, the Commander of the 5th Brigade of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Armed Forces. It was a great opportunity for COM EUFOR to receive an update on the security situation in that area, on joint activities, and on the training carried out between EUFOR troops and the Armed Forces of BiH to ensure a safe and secure environment.

The occasion provided an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of both EUFOR and AF BiH to strengthen their relationship which is underpinned by over two decades of cooperation.

The following visit to the Austrian Liaison Observation Team (LOT) House in Tuzla, was an excellent opportunity to gain insight into how EUFOR troops interact with the local population in their daily tasks in this area. The Austrian team from Tuzla provided Major General Fronda with a detailed update on their community engagement and the strong relationships that they have established with both local citizens and institutions.

Continuing his tour, Major General Fronda had the opportunity to stop at the Ammunition Storage Site (ASS) and the Weapons Storage Site (WSS) near Tuzla where Major General Zdravko Rezo, Commander of the Support Command of the AF BiH, updated him on the work of EUFOR Joint Military Affairs (JMA), who operate under the authority of the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP) and in support of BiH institutions for the proper management of stocks.

The EUFOR Commander highlighted the importance of continued cooperation and interoperability between AF BiH and EUFOR. Major General Fronda praised all EUFOR troops deployed in Tuzla for their exceptional professionalism, enthusiasm, and daily work, which emphasizes EUFOR’s strong commitment to remain visible, credible, and impartial, providing a safe and secure environment for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During his visit, Major General Fronda underscored the importance of having LOT houses throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they are the ones where EUFOR can engage with local communities and the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a meaningful manner.

“The members of the LOT houses are a vital link in the EUFOR chain, working on community empowerment as well as ensuring security and stability throughout whole country” COM EUFOR said.

With its 20 LOTs and 24 TSAs, EUFOR remains present and engaged in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cooperating with the AF BiH and local institutions for the brighter future of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
