EUFOR announced that reserve forces have begun arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of today, by land via the Svilaj and Bijača border crossings and by air via Sarajevo Airport.

Over the coming days, soldiers, vehicles and helicopters from the Czech Republic, Italy and Romania will reinforce the EUFOR force.

As stated in the statement, EUFOR will take all necessary measures to minimize the impact on local communities and road traffic.

They thanked citizens in advance for their understanding and called on all road users to follow the instructions of the competent authorities when moving military equipment and vehicles.

As a reminder, the first reserve soldiers arrived at Sarajevo Airport this afternoon, and were welcomed by the Deputy Commander of EUFOR, Brigadier General Lorenzo Dal Maso. The reinforcement is expected to number a total of 400 soldiers, along with supporting equipment and vehicles.

The deployment of additional forces is being carried out by C-27J Spartan transport aircraft, while the EUFOR air component will be further reinforced with four helicopters.

The decision to send reserve forces comes after the recent escalation of the political crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the context of the trial of the President of the Republika Srpska entity, Milorad Dodik.
