Europe expects that by the arrival of a senior delegation from Brussels with Štefan Fule we will have come to an agreement regarding the implementation of “Sejdić-Finci”, said the President of the HDZ Božo Ljubić after yesterday’s meeting with the General Director of the Directorate for Enlargement in the European Union Stefano Sannino.
During the meeting they spoke about the essence of this agreement which, according to Ljubić, aims to solve the so-called Croatian question.
‘’Sannino clearly expressed understanding for the complexity of the implementation of the ruling, as well as the need to solve the Croatian question’’, said Ljubić.
He added that he proposed to Sannino some modalities that would put the three constituent peoples in the same position when it comes to the question of the selection of members of the BiH Presidency.
“Next to the model of indirect elections, there is also the model that includes two constituencies in the FBiH, but in a way that rejects the stigma of division of the FBiH into two entities, as well as the electoral model that is not tied to the constituency because they are tied to the law. Tomorrow, any majority in the FBiH could change the law and create new constituencies. Ultimately, this could completely negate the entire model’’, explained Ljubić.
The deal is underlined that in the next month those responsible would invest additional efforts and in cooperation with the international community come to a solution for the implementation of the ruling.
The President of the Alliance for a Better Future (SBB) Fahrudin Radončić met with Stefano Sannino. Radončić said that the ruling has to be implemented as soon as possible so that BiH could begin its path to the EU.
Radončić said that the international community is investing its maximum efforts, but that it is up to local authorities to reach a compromise for the benefit of the citizens of this country.
“Implementation of the ruling is only the tip of the iceberg, and under it many other things are hiding, like the relationship between Bosniaks and Croats. However, I am an optimist and believe that this issue would be solved because we are all aware that there is no other alternative. Everything else would be a disaster’’, concluded Radončić.
Stefano Sannino spoke with the President of the HDZ BiH Dragan Čović on the ruling.
‘’For about 15 days we should test the agreement between the six ruling parties regarding the election of the members of the BiH Presidency, first in the FBiH, then in the RS by 11 April when Štefan Fule comes for a visit. The fundamental principle that we adopted 10 days ago is that we do not choose members of the Presidency among each other, and neither for representatives in the House of Peoples. Now we have to determine how to implement it, and in order to preserve the spirit of the ruling on one side, and on the other side for it to be articulated to the representatives of all three constituent peoples and citizens of BiH”, said Čović at the meeting.
