B&H songwriter Maya Sar was awarded yesterday in Zagreb for initiating the regional project “Moj je život moja pjesma” (My life is my song).
The prize was awarded by the European Association for the fight against cervical cancer (ECCA) and the ceremony took place at the office of the Croatian President Ivo Josipović.
“Prizes are always a motivation for further work, but what makes me very proud is the fact the number of preventive medical examinations of women in the country increased by 10 %, which is a great success and a direct result of this action”, said Maya Sar after receiving the award.
The song Maja wrote, “Moj je život moja pjesma”, performed with Nina Badrić, Karolina Gočev and Aleksandra Radović became popular after its premiere broadcast, and by the end of 2010 had several million listeners on YouTube. The action started in B&H and received the attention of the entire region and culminated in concert promotion projects held in Sarajevo and Zagreb.
For this project, Maya Sar was awarded a few years ago with the Humanity prize of the International League of Humanists.
