Joint organisation of European Youth Winter Olympic Festival (EYWOF) 2017 which will be organised by City of Sarajevo and City of East Sarajevo is a very important event for BiH, and 3000 participants from all over Europe will participate.
Coordinator of this project Miroslav Živanović said to FENA that this event will wake up the Sarajevo Olympic spirit, and in the case of good and successful organisation it will bring back the confidence of citizens of Sarajevo, that BiH is a community which is capable of organising such an event.
Živanović said that this will be the opportunity to light up the Olympic flame for the second time, and this is a unique opportunity to improve the infrastructure, and to promote Sarajevo as a unique urban area surrounded by Olympic mountains.
The opening ceremony of EYWOF 2017 will be held in Zetra, snowboard competitions and parallel slalom on the Bjelašnica, hockey and skating in Zetra and in Skenderija, while Nordic disciplines will be held on the Igman Mountain.
Slalom and Giant slalom will be held on the Jahorina, and skating will be held in the new hall in Pale, while in the hall in East Sarajevo, the closing ceremony will be held.
Olympic habitat will be built in Lukavica as a part of Student Centre with capacity of 900 to 1 100 people.
President of Pale municipality Assembly Miroslav Brčkalo said that this is one of the most important events in the period to come.
City of East Sarajevo already planned the money which will be allocated for this event, in order to rehabilitate sports infrastructure.
