“We will fight for the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina to remain what it is – a roof house. When we systematically solve the issue of financing sports, I firmly believe that the Olympic Committee will take care of all athletes in Bosnia and Herzegovina equally,” said BiH athlete Amel Tuka to BHRT.
“My generation of athletes really showed a great, great desire and everyone is making efforts, each on their own plan, to achieve it. We simply have to find an approach to each one individually, as nicely, culturally, as they say, as we should talk to everyone. That is the only way because we have to satisfy all parties, but I think that sport is something positive, something beautiful and something that promotes a country. We work here out of great love for sport. We all started training because we love it. We stayed in that’s because we felt progress and somehow made our way into the world of top sports,” said Tuka.
He points out that the support they have from the BiH Olympic Committee means a lot to athletes, especially in recent years.
“Somehow, somehow, all that funding from institutions comes only from the Olympic Committee. That’s why we will all fight for the Olympic Committee to remain what it is – a roof house. If, God willing, I hope and firmly believe that, when we achieve systemic solution, the Olympic Committee will be the one that will evenly and equally take care of all athletes in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
Tuka hopes that the Sportsmen’s Forum, which is being held today in Sarajevo, will grow into a traditional event.
One of the main topics will be the Athlete365 platform, which, Tuka points out, provides many benefits to top athletes, especially Olympians.
“This is our historical first forum of athletes of BiH, based on the international forum of athletes that I attended in Lausanne two months ago and recently the European forum of athletes that was in Rome, where I traveled together with the general secretary of the Olympic Committee. We saw the benefits and advantages organizing, and in the sense of solely for the sake of the athletes and for the additional education of athletes, trainers and sports workers”.
The organizer of the BiH Sportsmen’s Forum is the BiH Olympic Committee, in cooperation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is an event that brings together former, present and future top athletes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is an extraordinary opportunity for the exchange of experiences, information and ideas among athletes and sports workers.
A rich educational program has been announced, which includes lectures on social networks and personal brands, mental health of athletes, nutrition, motivation, the IOC platform Athlete 365 and other current topics.
