Eurowings to launch a New Route between Berlin and Sarajevo

Low-cost airline Eurowings will launch a new route between Berlin and Sarajevo next summer.

The Sarajevo Tourism Board initially revealed the service last year as part of a package of subsidized routes planned for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital.

Although the flights were originally scheduled to begin in 2024, Eurowings has now confirmed the connection will start as part of a wider network expansion from Berlin. Ticket sales are expected to open soon.

Eurowings previously operated flights between Berlin and Sarajevo in 2013–2014 and again in 2019, but the service was discontinued in January 2020.

A restart planned for March 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new Berlin route will join Eurowings’ existing Sarajevo connections to Cologne and Stuttgart.

It remains uncertain whether the airline will proceed with additional routes from Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Hannover, which were also announced under last year’s subsidy program.
