Exercise: Plane Crash at Sarajevo International Airport

An exercise entitled “Plane Accident in the Circle of Sarajevo International Airport – Red Wing 9” was held today at the fire station of the Sarajevo International Airport.

It is about simulating the accident of the ATR 72 plane with 30 passengers and crew members, which crashed in the area of ​​the Sarajevo International Airport, more precisely on the location of the fire range of the Sarajevo airport.

The actions taken are in line with the Plan of Measures and Procedures in Emergency Situations and include the engagement of employees of Sarajevo International Airport, Sarajevo Canton Emergency Medical Service, Professional Fire Brigade – Airport Unit and Stup Unit, Professional Fire Brigade East Sarajevo and BiH Border Police .

Sarajevo International Airport is obliged to perform such an exercise every two years.

The purpose of the simulation of the accident and the entire exercise is to check the ability of the staff and the operation of the current Emergency Plan and Procedures.

The headquarters of the action, which followed this exercise all the time, assessed it as successful, and praised the readiness, coordination and cooperation of all participants, which again proved to be at a high level.
