With the exhibition by Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini who transformed Rome with his creativity in the form we know today, on June 1st will be open a three-day cultural event “Italian Spring in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

Bernini’s artworks will be set up in the BiH Art Gallery unified within the exhibition entitled “The Bernini School and the Roman Baroque The Great Works of the Palazze Chighi in Aricci”. His masterpieces of invaluable historical, cultural and artistic values will be presented for the first time in BiH.

The collection belongs to the Museum of Roman Baroque Art “Palazzo Chigi”, located in the town of Aricci, which tourists do not visit so often which is why it is important for this cultural institution to be put outside the borders of Italy.

The exhibition will be as a journey through the world of Italian Baroque through works of various types, such as portraits, landscapes, nature and sketches of monumental frescoes from Romanesque churches and noble palaces.

Italian Ambassador to BiH, Nicola Minasi, said that forty paintings, various decorative items and medals designed by Bernini will be presented at the exhibition.

Coordinator of the exhibition, Dominique Lora, pointed out that this is actually a traveling exhibition ending in Sarajevo, adding that this artist made Rome as  the first major international center or, as she said, the 17th century New York.

“This artist gave the foundations of an artistic baroque movement that spread throughout Europe and later to America. His style has generated art in modernism,” Lora added.

The exhibition will be opened by the main curator of the exhibition Stefano Petrucci, and visitors will be able to see until July 11th.
