Corruption is a serious problem and one of the greatest challenges for BIH and fight against corruption in this country is the priority of the US Government, said last night in Mostar ambassador of the USA in BiH Patrick Moon, at the opening ceremony of exhibition of drawings and caricatures called ‘Mitomanija’ that wants to illustrate all the negative implications of corruption to BIH society.
The exhibition is the project of Transparency International (TI) BIH which was done in cooperation with the US Embassy and it consists of winning works of BiH authors collected through a competition, as well as works of professional BiH caricaturists that participated in the project.
‘According to data of TI, out of 176 countries, BiH is at 72nd place which is one of the worst in the region. Corruption is at all levels and all sectors and it endangers the stability and prosperity of BiH, but the small, every day corruption is the type we are annoyed the most’, said Moon.
But, he added, fighting the corruption can happen when common people show the decisiveness to change the mentality of those who say that giving the bribe is necessary.
‘Opening of this exhibition, that makes one think, shows that citizens of this country wants to fight against corruption and that they are committed to put the public debate on corruption in the first place’, said Moon and thanked the authors of the works and everyone who made the exhibition possible.
President of TI BiH Emir Đikić said that there is no political will in BiH to fight corruption, but he hopes that through this project and through this form of communication with public people will say no to corruption.
‘What motivated us to start this exhibition from Mostar is the fact that this city has a problem for a very long time, because of total irresponsibility of its authorities towards the citizens of Mostar’, said Đikić and expressed the hope that the situation in Mostar will improve and that the situation in BIH will improve as well and that politicians will take responsibility for their actions.
The exhibition will be opened by March 30, and afterwards it will be opened in Sarajevo and Banja Luka and it will be exhibited in seven American corners.
Awarded artists are: Abidin Dobrunaj, Filip Andronik, Milena Berić, Amir Ćatić, Adi Habul, Zdravko Jandrić, Džejlana Karaman, Ninoslav Kovačević, Adnan Smajić, Branko Vukojević, Nina Hadžić, Dejan Šijuk, Đorđo Ninković and Mahmud Latifić.
