Director of the BiH Veterinary Office and head of the Joint Center for the Control of African swine fever Saša Bošković announced during the third meeting of that center the visit of the GF TADs expert team for African swine fever in BiH from July 12 to 14.
The goal of the mission is to collect data and make recommendations for disease management.
The press release states that the current epidemiological situation regarding this infectious disease was also presented at the meeting.
In the entity of Republika Srpska, 75 outbreaks of African swine fever were confirmed, and 2,350 pigs were removed harmlessly.
On the territory of Brčko District, 22 foci of the disease were confirmed, and around 330 pigs were harmlessly removed. There are no reported cases of this infectious disease in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In order to adequately prevent and spread the disease, the Office appeals to swine owners to strictly adhere to prescribed measures, especially biosecurity measures, to immediately report any suspicious animal condition and deaths to the competent veterinary inspector or the competent veterinarian office.
