selmalooseIn the Cultural Center in Mostar, an exhibition called ‘Figura and Prostor’ opened on Thursday by artist Selma Loose.

Selma Loose was born in 1972 in Mostar. She graduated from the Faculty of Teaching “Džemal Bijedić” in Mostar at the Department of Fine Arts-Painting and graduated in 2012 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, also in the department of Painting.

She is a member of ULUBiH and ULUF. The exhibition was opened by Tatijana Mičević – Đurić, art historian who said that Selma’s paintings is largely dominated by female figures.

They are not actual people with their own names. They are women. Selma’s women show the femininity hidden in the deepest intimacy of time, going through the greatest trials and tribulations, said Mičević – Đurić.

She also pointed out that Selma bravely embarks on a large-format mastering. She bravely paints female figures by placing them in different positions, and sometimes in very unusual positions, exploring the correlations between figures and space.

After these introductory words, the artist of the exhibition Selma Loose thanked all those who came, most of all her professors from the Academy.
