exhibition historical museumThe exhibition entitled “Sarajevo war ovens – stories from the besieged city”, which is hosted by the Historical Museum of BiH was opened in the Gallery of the Municipality of Novi Grad on Thursday, May 25, 2017. This exhibition is the first one in a series of planned exhibitions within the cooperation between the Historical Museum of BiH and the Municipality of Novi Grad for this year.

The exhibition was opened by the director of the Historical Museum of BiH Elma Hasimbegovic and Deputy Mayor Tajib Delalic, Assistant for Veterans Issues of the Municipality of Novi Grad.

The exhibition represents a selection from the rich collection of war items of the Historical Museum of BiH, which received them as a gift from the citizens of Sarajevo. Part of exhibition items is also part of the permanent museum exhibition, while a majority of exhibited ovens was shown to the public for the first time. The Historical Museum of BiH has not stopped collecting items and testimonies of citizens since the formation of collection and the exhibition “Besieged Sarajevo” in 2003.

The aim of the exhibition is to stimulate our citizens to remember their stories and find items that testify about them, to share them with the Historical Museum of BiH and enrich the collection of the museum in that way.

Director of the Historical Museum of BiH Elma Hasimbegovic invited all citizens to visit this exhibition, and if they decide to share their stories and items, to contact curator or museum staff directly in the building of the Historical Museum of BiH.

The exhibition in the gallery of this municipality will be opened until June 5, 2017, and the invitation for citizens will remain open until further notice.
