Sarajevo will soon be getting a new attraction. The restored Isa Bey’s Hamam, the city’s oldest public bath, which was constructed at the same time Sarajevo was established, is set to open in May 2015.
This important building has been converted into a hotel, and will have 19 rooms and 2 suites.
The large chimney, which was once used to heat the water for indoor pools (swimming areas), now has no function, but will remain in the hamam’s courtyard, which is adjacent to the harem (courtyard, cemetery) of the Emperor’s Mosque.
The chimney will now serve as a unique attraction and historic monument.
