New trends in the movement of migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, as well as estimates for 2025, are the topics of the conference “Mixed Migration Flows and Dynamics in BiH and on the Western Balkan Route”, which is being held today in Bihać, organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The meeting is attended by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton, the Police Directorate of the MUP of the USK, officials of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, representatives of the Red Cross and other institutions and organizations from the Una-Sana Canton.

During the conference, the latest data on migration movements in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Western Balkan context are presented, including key findings of the Displacement Monitoring Matrix (DTM) activities and research results adapted to local specificities.

In particular, the expected migration flows in 2025 are analyzed, with an emphasis on recorded registrations, changes in routes and trends that affect security and operational processes in the region.

Participants also discussed activities being implemented to improve the management of mixed migration flows, strengthen institutional capacities and improve processes.

The importance of coordinated action by all relevant services was highlighted in order to ensure a more efficient, secure and sustainable response to current and future migration challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans, Fena reports.
