Four people were injured and six are missing after an explosion at a hydroelectric plant near Bologna on Tuesday, local sources said, according to Italian news agency ANSA.

The explosion occurred around 3:00 p.m. at the hydroelectric power plant on Lake Suviana.

According to initial information, four people suffered severe burns, and six people are considered missing.

The explosion occurred at a depth of 30 meters, the local mayor told an Italian news agency.

“It seems that the fire broke out on the minus ninth floor, the entire power plant is below the level of the lake, at a depth of about 30 meters,” Marco Masinara, the mayor of Camugnan, told ANSA.

According to the first, still partial information, “they were working on the turbines, the staff is inside”. “I’m told the firemen are trying to get in, but they’re having trouble,” he added.
