Legendary Bosnian singer Halid Bešlić, who marked the Balkan music scene for years, will be laid to rest on Monday, according to planned ceremonies that will bring together family, friends, colleagues and admirers of his art.

The funeral will be held after the afternoon prayer at 1:30 p.m. in the harem of the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, while the burial will take place at the Bare City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m., the relevant institutions confirmed. Before the funeral, a commemoration will be held at the Sarajevo National Theater at 11 a.m. on the same day, an event dedicated to the memory of the life and career of one of the greatest musical legends of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Halid Bešlić died at the age of 72 at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo after a long and serious illness, with which he fought bravely. Bešlić spent the last weeks in the hospital, while his team was forced to cancel all planned performances a month ago due to his worsening health condition.

The news of the death of Halid Bešlić deeply shook Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the entire region. His songs, which have been followed by millions of people over the years, remain a permanent legacy of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s music scene. Halid Bešlić will be remembered not only for his voice and hits, but also for his energy, charisma and inexhaustible dedication to music that connected generations.
