A particularly interesting story comes from the General Hospital, where Sarajevo natives Ljubomir Pilja and Irfan Selman met again after 40 years in a hospital room – after previously meeting during treatment, where they shared a room, and now they have even undergone surgery on the same hip.
Ljubomir Pilja and Irfan Selman were both born in the distant year of 1939 and although they lived in the same city and the same municipality, they first met 40 years ago in Fojnica during spa treatment.
At that time, they shared the same room and were even in rehabilitation for the same knee-related health issue. After four decades, life has brought them together again, this time in a hospital room at the General Hospital in Sarajevo.
They told the hospital staff that they recognized each other instantly, to mutual joy. Another interesting fact is that both of them have now had surgery on the same hip.
A twist of fate has reunited them, and they are currently sharing a room in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where they are continuing a long-established friendship and have many shared topics to discuss.
Their recovery is going excellently, and they have nothing but words of praise for the staff at the General Hospital.
