niksicThe Prime Minister of the FBiH Nermin Nikšić received today in Sarajevo the Resident Coordinator of the UN to BiH Yuri Afanasiev.

The main topic of discussion was the formulation of a UN support program for BiH in the next five-year period from 2015-2019, where there will be consultations at the entity and state level.

Afanasiev said that in this five-year period, he does not expect bigger reductions of the UN’s help to BiH, which could amount to 40 million dollars every year, announcing the strengthening of cohesion of the coordination of UN agencies to BiH and a uniform action to partners in our country.

Prime Minister Nikšić stressed support of this approach of the UN and informed Afanasiev of the activities of the FBIH government to be implemented despite the complex political moment and its commitment to continue the projects that would be of capital importance for the FBiH.

“We held the fiscal stability of the FBiH, we extended the arrangement with the IMF, and we have met the conditions from the letter of intent. We will continue with key activities in this investment cycle, such as the construction of corridor 5C, where we expect a new momentum and the beginning of the construction of new parts’’, said Prime Minister Nikšić. He spoke of the importance of investment in the electricity sector such as the construction of Blok 7 of the Tuzla thermal power plant, hydropower plant Vranduk and the wind farm Podveležje.

The Prime Minister pointed out the results of the revitalization of the defense sector, announcing its expansion this year and the efforts of the government to resolve the legacy issues of the functioning of the former major prewar businesses.

During the discussion they spoke of the expert proposals for the reform of the FBiH and ways to resolve open issues between the UN and BiH, announced the FBiH government.
