The Federation Institute for Transfusion Medicine of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) appeals to citizens to donate blood due to the reduced blood supply in the Institute. Currently, it is the period of annual vacations, a month of Ramadan and it is harder to reach the blood donor.
During the summer months, there is intensification in the road traffic accidents, and thus the need for greater blood supply. In addition to this, a greater number of doses are needed to treat injuries, perform regular surgical procedures, to treat anemia, cancer and other conditions requiring blood component therapy.
Blood of all blood groups is needed, and currently the most prevalent deficiency is of A + and O + blood groups. The FBiH Institute for Transfusion Medicine calls all citizens who are healthy and have the good will to come and donate blood.
The Bureau calls on citizens to donate blood in order to prevent the retention of operational programs and to provide timely care for patients with blood transfusions necessary for healing and recovery.
All the interested ones can donate blood to the Transfusion Medicine Department today from 07:30 to 19:00 and on Saturday from 08:00 to 15:00.
