The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its session today, on the proposal of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, adopted the program of expenditure of funds “Capital transfers to public companies – Transfer for the construction of the Hranjen tunnel” in the amount of 20,000,000 KM, determined in this year’s budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The funds are intended for construction and supervision and will be transferred in tranches to the account of the project implementer, the Motorways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after providing the Ministry of Transport and Communications with evidence of the performed works or services.

The construction of the Hranjen tunnel on the route of the future highway Gorazde-Sarajevo, regardless of weather conditions, is progressing according to the planned dynamics.

The tunneling is done at the same time from the north and south, from the direction of Gorazde and Praca. The investor is Public Enterprise Motorways of FBiH, and the works entrusted to Euro-Asfalt are worth around 82 million BAM.

Euro-Asphalt says that it is a geologically demanding terrain, but for now there are no special problems. The southern portal of the tunnel from the direction of Gorazde is slowly but surely progressing towards the northern portal near Hrenovica, about five kilometers away, eKapija reports.

“At the moment, we are in the main tube for about 310 meters. Works are progressing according to planned dynamics. Extremely cold weather, which in the last three to four weeks has created a lot of difficulties, but all precautions were taken to protect people and mechanization, so there were no major problems and the works were carried out according to the planned dynamics,” explains the technical manager on the tunnel Enes Ajanovic.

Specificity of this tunnel is that it will have two tubes, despite containing two lanes for the traffic.

The construction of the tunnel “Hranjen” represents a historic project for Gorazde, because the distance will be decreased from the current 95.6 kilometers to 56 kilometers.

After the construction of tunnel Hranjen, and given the quality of the new route, the ride between Sarajevo and Gorazde will last for 45 minutes instead of the hour and a half.
