As part of the activity “Not a single woman is invisible – a feminist tourist tour of Mostar”, the Citizens’ Initiative of Mostar on Saturday organized a feminist tourist tour for women members of the Women’s Association “Vrba” Mostar, the Pozitiva.tim Association, and Women with a Book.
“During the feminist tourist tour, together we discovered untold stories about women who shaped Mostar throughout history, but remained in the shadows for too long,” the mentioned initiative reported on Sunday.
They say that Mostar is a city of rich cultural heritage that attracts the attention of the world with its architecture, beauty and history. However, deeply rooted in his story, lie the stories of extraordinary women whose contribution is often not sufficiently explored or valorized in the collective memory. During the past century, Mostar was adorned not only by its imposing buildings, but also by true heroines who shape this city with their strengths and talents, but their story often remains hidden.
“With the tourist tour, we are trying to revive their contribution and remind the public of their role in building Mostar as we know it today. While women’s stories may not be prominent in everyday life, they are still an indelible part of Mostar’s history, and their significance reaches deep into the foundations of this city,” they continue.
The feminist tour was led by Alma Pelo-Zagorčić, B.A., professor of history. This activity was realized with the support of the Women’s Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Fena writes.
