Gianni Infantino, the president of the International Football Federation (FIFA), said that they are against the proposal of a “blue card” that would briefly exclude football players from the game, reports Anadolu.

Infantino made the statement to reporters ahead of the 138th annual assembly of the International Football Association Board (IFAB) in Scotland.

Speaking about the proposal to send off players who object to the referee or cheat for 10 minutes, Infantino said: “There will be no blue card at the elite level. It is an issue that is not on the agenda for us.”

Stressing that as FIFA they are completely against the “blue card”, Infantino added: “I was not aware of this issue. I am the president of FIFA and I think FIFA has a say in IFAB. I don’t know if you want the title, red card blue cardboard.”

Noting that new proposals in football should be approached with respect, Infantino said: “However, once you look at it, you also have to protect the game, the essence and the tradition of the game. There is no such thing as a blue card.”, AA writes.
