falsifikatorFilm ‘Falsifikator’ (Forger) based on the play which has been successfully played in Belgrade Drama Theatre has premiered last night to the audience of Sarajevo in Meeting Point Cinema, reports FENA

After the film ended, film crew headed by director Marković and the star of the film and producer Tihomir Stanić bowed to the audience.

Cast of the film Tihomir Stanić, Branka Katić, Emir Hadžihafizbegović, Goran Navojec, Dragan Petrović, Sergej Trifunović, Haris Burina, Nataša Marković and Bogdan Diklić.

This black engaged comedy is situated in the late 60ies of the 20th century, and it is a story of a good hearted forger Anđelko, principal of the primary school in the small place of Bosanska Krajina who forges school diplomas for years. However, he does that without any compensation, but because he naively things that that’s good thing to do, in order to enable someone’s fortune.

Director Marović noted that he was called to perform by the Goethe Institute with theatre version of the film on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall Fall. So, the story of the film deals with the fall, in this case of Yugoslavia. He thinks that the fall happened in 1968, when the action of the film begins.

‘There is also the fall of the hero Anđelko, who after being discovered gets into jail, which coincides with the fall of Yugoslavia. I am convinced that the year 1968 was the year when Yugoslavia started falling apart, because of two events: great demonstrations in Belgrade and the explosion of the bomb in Belgrade Cinema, which was the first terrorist act in former Yugoslavia. All that created an unstable environment. It is the historical and thematic framework of the film’, said Marković.

Marković notes that this is his second film whose action is situated in BiH, which makes him feel like a BiH director. He picked BiH because of the fact that it was the heart of  Yugoslavia, but also because in Šeškovci, where the action takes place, 17 nations lived before the war.

Star of the film Tihomir Stanić noted that the film is inspired by a story from his life, which is a great honour for him. It is a story of his father, although the director contributed with his own theses.

’The impression film leaves on the audience is that they leave the cinema glowing, which is a big thing in these dark times. This film reminds us on the old films from 70ies, and it is intentionally anachronistic. Marković is known for his work with actors and his dedication towards them, because he  himself is a film child. Shooting went smooth and it was comfortable’, said Stanić.

The film premiered in Belgrade on 3 March, and after that it was presented in several towns of Serbia and in Banja Luka.
