Today, 3 June, citizens of Sarajevo will have the opportunity to see the Croatian film ‘Sonja and the Bull’ which will be shown as a part of the festival ‘5 Days of Zagreb in Sarajevo’.
The film will be shown in the Meeting Point Cinema at 8 p.m. and the entrance is free for all.
Croatian comedy ” Sonja and the Bull” (Sonja i Vuk) is directed by Vlatka Vorkapić and stars Judita Franković and Goran Bogdan
The film deals with the most controversial part of Croatia’s Animal Protection Act which is the section that regulates bullfighting. Sonja, a city girl from Zagreb, a sworn vegetarian and animal-rights activist, claims that bullfighting is unnecessarily violent and she denounces the owners of the bulls as heartless. People living in the Dalmatian countryside simply cannot understand Sonja’s attitude. The more Sonja criticises the bull owners, the less inclined they are to listen. Finally they conclude that no matter how passionately Sonja defends the rights of animals, she would never dare to stand in front of a bull. Bets are raised and Sonja soon faces an additional challenge in the form of Ante, known far and wide for his powers of persuasion…
