Finci: Due to its Interreligious Dialogue, Sarajevo is the right place for Pope’s Visit

Pope Francis waves as he leads his weekly audience in Saint Peter's Square at the VaticanIt is a good and great thing that Pope Frances decided to visit BiH, because he is the Holy Father and president of the state called Holy Sea, and we know that high leaders and politicians rarely come to BiH, but they are mostly officials of different European and other states, President of the Jewish Community of BiH Jakob Finci told FENA, commenting on the announced visit of Pope Frances to Sarajevo.

Finci believes that everyone should keep in mind he is a chief of state and a Pope, and that there are more than a million and a half Catholics in the world, which is why his visit is a special honor.

”If he is coming to speak about interreligious dialogue and co-existence, then Sarajevo and BiH is the right place for something like that, because we have been living that way for centuries. Of course there were incidents here, and there was a war that left very ugly and deep marks. Still, let’s remember how many times his predecessor John Paul II mentioned BiH in his speeches and prayed for our country. So there is no doubt that Pope and the Holy Sea is friend of not only Catholics in BiH, but of BiH as a country and all its citizens,” he said.

He also assessed this visit is very important now that Europe has given a new chance to BiH. He hopes that BiH will use this visit in the best way possible, that it will have positive results and great benefits from it.
