The fire in the area of Kanjina and Živašnica near Konjic is still active, but the situation at the fire site is significantly better than last night.

Assistant Mayor in the Civil Protection and Fire Service of the City of Konjic Husein Hodžić said that during the morning, special attention was focused on the part of the fire site near the houses.

“The situation is much better than this morning, especially in the part of the fire that was directly next to the houses. However, high daytime temperatures and wind are reactivating the fire site, so the fire is breaking out again in the positions that we extinguished on Friday,” said Hodžić.

A helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and two Air Tractors participated in extinguishing the fire this morning, while firefighters and other teams are still on the ground.

“There are currently about 15 firefighters on the ground, members of the Konjic Professional Fire Unit, employees of the ‘Prenj’ Forestry Department and the Konjic Volunteer Fire Department,” said Hodžić.

He pointed out that there are currently no houses or other structures at risk, but the fire continues to pose a problem in the inaccessible and steep terrain.

“We have no structures or houses at risk, but the fire is still active, especially in the area that is inaccessible,” said Hodžić.

Firefighters and other competent services continue their activities at the fire site, and due to high temperatures and wind, the situation is still being closely monitored.
