First Contingent of Aid from Poland arrives in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The handover of assistance provided for Bosnia and Herzegovina by the Republic of Poland in the form of 50,000 protective surgical masks and a thousand liters of disinfectant took place on Monday at the Sarajevo International Airport.

Polish Ambassador to BiH Jaroslav Lindenberg explained that the aid was provided after the initiative of Polish President Andrzej Duda and was handed over to the military contingent within EUFOR, and it will be immediately delivered to the Ministry of Security, which coordinates and distributes medical aid.

According to the ambassador, this is the first part of the aid, because aid should be delivered by truck to BiH next week, and then about 100,000 surgical masks and 10,000 liters of disinfectant should arrive.

“This assistance was provided by the Polish government and will be provided for all six countries of the Western Balkans, and each country will receive the same amount of assistance,” Lindenberg added, noting that this assistance is an expression of their European solidarity in the fight against the pandemic.

He stressed that this assistance is the result of traditionally good friendly relations between the two countries, and Poland is interested in the countries of the Western Balkans, recalling that the Western Balkans Summit was organized in Poland last year as part of the Berlin Process.
