12935326_1149339168450371_325900984_nExhibition of cover pages of some of the most important newspapers in Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened yesterday in Mediacentar in Sarajevo, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the first edition of “Bosanski Vjestnik”.

Presented cover pages were of newspapers “Oslobođenje”, “Dani”, “Bosanskohercegovačke novine”, “Sarajevski list”, “Javnost”, “Muslimanski list” and others, thus shedding light on the history of important newspapers starting from the mid-19th century until today.

The Mediacentar stated that preservation of facts that are presented in media is important for the young, for all those who are directly or indirectly involved in media, as well as for the end users of the press- the readers.

The importance of helping journalists and all other engaged in working with media in doing their job was stressed.

The conference “Media and challenges of the digital era” was also held on the occasion of 150th anniversary of the printing of the first edition of BiH newspapers.

Director of Mediacentar Boro Kontić highlighted that BiH media are already in the digital era to a large extent, but that there are “unsolved old issues”.

On 7th of April in 1866, the first number of “Bosanski Vjestnik” was printed in the first Sarajevo pressroom Pečatnju Injata – Soprona Zemunski.

Upon the request by the Bosnian vizier Šerif Osman pasha, the pressman Ignjat Sopron opened the first pressroom, Sopronova pečatnja in Sarajevo, and established the first newspapers printed in Bosnia – weekly newspaper “Bosanski Vjestnik”.

“Vjestnik” was of political and entertainment-educational character and it was edited by Ignjat Sopron.

The first printed work was a song dedicated to Topal Osman pasha.
