First plane with products of animal origin for Turkey should take off from the Tuzla International Airport on June 1, thus officially establishing the cargo traffic from this airport.
Interest in exporting food of animal origin from the Tuzla Canton already exists. Minister of Trade, Tourism and Transportation of the Tuzla Canton Mirsad Gluhić said that the establishment of cargo traffic will be of great significance for the economy of this region and the country as a whole.
Turkey and BiH signed an agreement on duty free export of meat two years ago. However, the malfeasances which involved certain BiH companies engaged in export of meat, i.e. engaged in abuse regarding the duty free export of meat to Turkey, seriously jeopardized the stability of this agreement in the past several months.
As it is already known, certain BiH companies imported meat from other counties and then exported the meat to Turkey as a domestic product.
Led by consequences of this problem, Minister Gluhić warns that all relevant authorities will exercise rigorous control measures.
“We must not jeopardize this opportunity given by the Republic of Turkey never again, given that we almost failed on the first test. All bodies will monitor the operations, starting with the Council of Minister of BiH, then the relevant ministries, and veterinary and inspection bodies. Everyone will be not 100, but 110 percent involved in the process,” said Gluhić.
Tuzla International Airport also ensured a special platform for cargo operations.
