First recycling yard in Sarajevo Canton was opened within the Regional Waste Management Center Smiljevici yesterday, for classification but also temporary storage of special kind of waste.

Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Environment Protection of SC Čedomir Lukić stated that this is an important infrastructural facility for the entire integral system of communal waste management in Sarajevo Canton.

Advantage is that is enables citizens to personally bring almost all types of waste from their household to the recycling yard, except for example construction waste. Those who are not able to do so can call company “Rad”, which will transport the waste to this location.

Different kind of waste can be disposed at the recycling yard, such as paper, plastic, glass, tires, metal waste, wood packaging, electronic waste, etc.

“Opening of these yards is planned in area of all nine municipalities of Sarajevo Canton. The main goal is to reduce amount of waste at landfills. This way we will save space for further disposal, reduce amount of waste but also other negative effects of its disposal,” said Lukić.

Citizens will be able to bring waste to the recycling yard on working days and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Waste will not be received from legal entities.
