All five mountaineers from Bosnia and Herzegovina who died, who set out to conquer Elbrus, the highest peak in Russia, are from Zenica – confirmed the head of the Mountain Rescue Service in Zenica, Kenan Hrustanović to Fena news agency
Hrustanović, if he had not suffered a knee injury, would probably also have been a member of this expedition.
“I can only confirm that everyone died from Zenica,”- two members of the Zenica GSS and three members of the Vedro Mountaineering Society.
Hrustanović added that he received the tragic news yesterday, and that he cannot announce the names of the dead.
Since then, he has been in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the Russian media, the weather worsened suddenly yesterday, after which two people fell ill, while four people were being searched for.
