Five traffic police officers from Raška were arrested today on suspicion of accepting bribes, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
The suspects were arrested for demanding and accepting money from drivers who committed violations from May to September to avoid being fined.
The suspected police officers were ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours and will be taken to the competent prosecutor’s office with a criminal complaint.
Seven people who bribed the suspected police officers were also arrested.
The arrests were carried out on the orders of the Higher Prosecutor’s Office in Kraljevo.
