The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, participated today, on the second day of the Annual Investment Congress (AIM Congress 2024) in Abu Dhabi, at the Ministerial Round Table on Investments entitled “Preparation for Economic Slowdown: Hidden Investment Opportunities”, where the participants exchanged opinions on supporting the efforts of states to maintain and expand open, transparent and non-discriminatory policies for international investment in the context of multiple global crises.

In his address, Konaković expressed his satisfaction with participating in the round table on investments, given that, as he stated, this is a key moment and the numerous challenges we are facing, such as the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and economic instability.

He pointed out that these challenges not only reshaped our perception of risk, but also revealed new horizons for investment.

When it comes to the potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Konaković emphasized that the unique position of our country, in the heart of Europe, enables more accessible access to the main markets, strengthened by a strong infrastructure that supports both traditional and modern industries.

“Our growing manufacturing sector, from automotive components to textiles, represents fertile ground for investment. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s natural beauty, combined with our rich cultural heritage, offers lucrative prospects in tourism and hospitality, areas ripe for innovative investment that promise sustainable growth.” Konakovic said.

He also referred to the area of technology and innovation, where Bosnia and Herzegovina has potential for investors who want to access areas such as fintech, e-commerce and smart technological solutions.

He said that BiH understands the importance of encouraging the business environment to attract investments, and that for this purpose our country offers attractive investment benefits, including tax breaks, subsidies and improved regulatory frameworks that ensure the protection and growth of foreign direct investments.

“We continue to integrate into European and regional markets, and our strategic initiatives aim to attract foreign investment. Hidden investment opportunities in BiH are not only areas of potential profit, but symbols of innovation and development that can lead to sustainable economic growth and regional stability. We invite you to explore these possibilities as we embark on the path of mutual prosperity and successful cooperation,” said Konaković.

As a reminder, Minister Konaković will participate in the Annual Investment Congress from May 7 to 9, at the invitation of the State Minister of Foreign Trade and Vice-Chairman of the Council for Industrial Development of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

The thirteenth edition of the AIM Congress 2024, entitled “Adapting to the Changing Investment Environment: Exploiting New Potentials for Global Economic Development” brought together numerous officials, politicians, industry leaders, investors, and representatives of multinational and large companies, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as academic communities from more than 170 countries around the world, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
