The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, said that their position is very clear regarding the “Southern Interconnection” project, namely that it is “an important infrastructural project that may make a part of Bosnia and Herzegovina independent of Russian gas for the first time”.
“Our view is very clear. Ambassador Murphy said the logical thing – we have BH Gas that can take care of this part of the infrastructure. We have nothing against a Croat from the HDZ sitting at the head of BH Gas tomorrow if that is the case. I hope that we will remain aware of the importance of this project as soon as possible, and not outsmart who will form a company in which part. From Croatia, it is imperative, they said that they are interested in the southern interconnection and are planning to drastically increase the capacity of that storage by 6 billion units of measurement. There is interest from all sides, it would not be good if the story stops at who will manage the company and how,” said Konaković.
He pointed out that it is important for the FBIH Parliament to catch up with the dynamics of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska because they have already prepared all the documents regarding the eastern interconnection and to adopt a law that enables the start of the implementation of this project.
“This makes almost the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina supplied with gas. With these two arms, we could have a gasified BiH. The interest of the citizens should prevail over any party, personal or political individual interests”, said Konaković.
Speaking about the Trgovska Gora case, he said that if they fail to reach an agreement with the authorities of the Republic of Croatia, they will seek all possible international legal assistance in order to protect that part of Bosnia and Herzegovina from an “ecological bomb”, N1 reports.
