Croatian President Zoran Milanovic participated in the promotion of new officers of the Armed Forces, where he addressed journalists, after which, among other things, he touched upon the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in the case of “Kovacevic v. Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)“.
He commented on that verdict as “insane”, saying that the court in Strasbourg issues a verdict like this every 10 years, and ”it’s good that it didn’t cause a civil war”.
“Plenkovic is silent about it. It doesn’t concern the Government of Croatia? He doesn’t want you to ask him that because it’s an embarrassing question… So those people there are ‘madmen‘ with a dangerous political agenda. The Croatian side is a signatory to the Dayton Peace Agreement. Tudjman signed it on behalf of Croatia,” Milanovic told reporters when asked about the judgment of the court in Strasbourg.
Milanovic pointed out that the goal of the judgment is to unitize BiH and to change the Constitution of one state.
“The ambition to unitize BiH and to be all citizens under the guise of ‘unity of souls in the universe called Bosnia’. I tell you that the people will not do that. That is why the war was fought and that is why Dayton was adopted. Of course, in this case too, so that there is no confusion, the applicant is a close associate of Komsic,” Milanovic stated.
He emphasized that it is much more concerning to him than the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine.
“Our primary interests are the region where we have our interests, our reach, our people and other nations living in Croatia, and we have our people outside the Republic of Croatia. It is not the Republic of Croatia, but hundreds of thousands of Croats live there and that is our interest. This is a rope around the ankle for the Croats in BiH, and potentially for the Serbs as well,” said Milanovic, Klix.ba reports.
