Foreign Minister reacted on Statement of BiH Presidency Chairperson

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, reacted to the statement of the Chairperson of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, who stated that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers of BiH again usurps the work of joint institutions and goes beyond the scope of its competences”.

“Another senseless attack on the work I do and on me personally comes from the chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović. First, Mrs. Cvijanović should know that there are no joint institutions, there are only institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends the official positions of the Presidency to the further procedure BiH, and does not send individual documents and letters to any member of the Presidency of BiH. The members of the Presidency can do that themselves,” Konaković said in his post on Facebook.

If the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not have an agreed position, and the matter falls under the competence of the MFA, Konaković added that he personally decides on the text he sends to the procedure, taking into account and protecting the Constitution, laws and decisions previously adopted by the institutions of BiH.

“In the end, I had an insight into the text of Ms. Cvijanović’s letter, it would be much better for her not to send such letters. Especially not to those who know the situation in our country, the Constitution and other regulations well. It seems frivolous, she should take care of it “She has already received an adequate response from Strasbourg. I am sure that soon she will from other addresses as well,” Konaković pointed out.

The decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Konaković concluded, are final and binding on the territory of the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the decisions of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska are legally unfounded and invalid.

Cvijanović previously stated that “the MVPBiH usurps the work of joint institutions and goes beyond the scope of authority”.

“Their refusal to forward the letter that I sent to the UN Secretary General to the Permanent Mission of BiH to the UN represents an illegal act and a brutal abuse of authority. It is not theirs to enter into the content of the letter that a member of the Presidency sends to foreign addresses, but to forward it without question,” she stated earlier.
