Foreign Ministry Slams U.S. President’s ‘Divisive and Deceptive’ Remarks on Iran

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of what it described as false, divisive, and misleading remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump about Iran.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Ministry criticized President Trump’s comments from Tuesday, May 13, 2025, calling them baseless and inflammatory. The Ministry accused the U.S. president of attempting to shift blame onto Iran while ignoring the actions of what it referred to as the “Zionist regime,” which it said is responsible for a campaign of genocide and military aggression across the occupied Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen.

According to the statement, the U.S. is using distorted narratives to distract from ongoing atrocities in Gaza and elsewhere in the region. It labeled this tactic as part of a broader effort to protect Israel from facing accountability, and described it as evidence of longstanding U.S. hypocrisy and disregard for the rights and sovereignty of nations in the Middle East.

The Ministry reaffirmed that these accusations would not weaken the unity of the Iranian people, nor change the reality of decades-long U.S. efforts to obstruct Iran’s development through sanctions and support for hostile regimes. It emphasized the continued suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, which it said is being inflicted with American-supplied weapons and political backing.

Finally, the Ministry stated that the real goal behind Trump’s statements is to drive a wedge between Iran and neighboring Arab countries. However, it stressed that Iran and its regional allies remain aware of such tactics and are committed to strengthening their partnerships despite external attempts to create division, IRNA reports.
