Yesterday, the fifth meeting of the Organizing Committee for the commemoration of July 11th, 1995, the 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the United Nations (UN) Safe Zone of Srebrenica from July 1995, was held at the Potocari Memorial Center – Srebrenica.

At the meeting, the Program for the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide against the Bosniaks of the “UN Safe Area Srebrenica” was adopted. The report of the subcommittee chairman on the activities between the two sessions of the Committee was also discussed.

The chairman of the Organizing Committee for the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide, Hamdija Fejzic, said that preparations are proceeding according to the planned schedule and that all planned activities have so far been carried out.

“We adopted the commemoration program with certain additions, and the final program will be published in all media. We expect the start of activities to go without any problems. We hope that the 30th anniversary will be more dedicated to all activities, both in the ‘Peace March’ and in other events. We are ready to welcome a larger number of participants and I hope we will successfully accomplish what is planned,” said Fejzic.

According to him, the remains of five identified victims of the genocide are currently ready for burial on July 11th.

“There are others who are in the process of deciding whether they will bury their loved ones, as it involves a small number of bones. Families are waiting to find more parts of the body so they can bury them with a larger number of remains,” emphasized Fejzic.

Also, more than 1.600 individuals and groups of participants are currently registered for the ‘Peace March’.

“We expect a larger number of participants,” Fejzic added.
