Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was president of Iran for two terms from 2005 to 2013, was killed in an Israeli-American air strike, Iranian media reported, The Jerusalem Post reported.
The former president’s residence in Narmak, northeast of Tehran, was hit in the attack. Iranian media reports that he and several of his bodyguards were killed.
The attack in Narmak probably happened late Saturday night.
Before becoming president, Ahmadinejad was governor of Ardabil province and mayor of Tehran.
After two presidential terms, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Ahmadinejad to the 48-member Advisory Council of the Office of the Supreme Leader.
